Atlanta Woodcarvers Club Schedule for 2008
Jan. 8, 7 - 9PM
Carving the Kingfisher Bird, Part 1.
January's project is taken from the November-December 2007 issue of Wood Carving magazine. The common kingfisher bird, native to England, is carved perched on a tree snag. Although this is considered a beginners project, it likely will take 2 sessions to do it justice--one to develop the shape and one later to apply the detail. The 2 x 2 x 4-1/2 inch basswood blank and some carbon paper will be provided. You will need a pencil, a 1/2 inch or smaller V-gouge, and a bench knife to get started.
